In Korea, There are mainly two ways to get a driving license. 

1. Exchange with your own license (which you have already got from your home country like Pakistan, India, Canada etc.)
2. Starting the normal process of Korean license application which is given as under,
   • First, You have to fill the application form which requires 2 passport size pictures.
   • then there will be a basic medical test which will cost you 8000 KRW.
   • For Written-test, 10,000 KRW will be charged.
   • If the written test is passed then you can go for the driving course test, if failed, you can appear in the test again the next day by paying 10,000 KRW
3. Following is the flow chart that can guide you for the steps.

Traffic Safety Education before Examination

• – Things to prepare: ID card
• – Fee: Free

Health Check

• – Things to prepare: Application form, ID card
• – Fee: (based on taking the health check at the exam site)
  Fee: 8,000 won

Apply for the Written Exam

• – Things to prepare: Application form, ID card,
  three copies of color photo (3.5X4.5 cm)
  taken within last 6 months
• – Fee: (based on taking the health check at exam site)
  Class 1 or 2: 10,000 won
  Motorized bicycle : 8,000 won

* Applicants must complete the traffic safety education
before applying for the written exam (one hour).

Take Written Exam

• – Passing criterion: 70 points or higher for Class 1 and 60 points
  or higher for Class 2
• – Available languages: Korean, English, Chinese, and Vietnamese
• – Eligibility: 18 years or older (Class 1 Large or Special: At least 1 year from the date of receiving the Class 1 or 2 General license)

Apply for Driving Course Test

• – Things to prepare: Application form, ID card
• – Fee
  Class 1 or 2 General: 22,000 won
  Large/Special: 20,000 won
  Class 2 Small: 10,000 won
  Motorized bicycle: 8,000 won

Take Driving Course Test

• – Passing criterion
  Class 1 Large and General: 80 points or higher
  Class 1 Special, Class 2 Small, and Class 2 Motorized bicycle: 90 points or higher

Practice License Issued

• – Things to prepare: Application form, ID card
• – Fee: 4,000 won

Apply for On-Road Driving Exam

• -Preparation: Application form (with the practice license attached), ID card

Take On-Road Driving Exam

• – Passing criterion: 70 points or higher

Driver’s License Issued

• – Things to prepare: Application form with the proof of final passing, ID card, one copy of color photo (3.5X4.5 cm) taken within last 6 months
• – Fee: 8,000 won
